For prop makers and cosplay creators
Custom 3D printing for cosplay and props
Have a printable model for a costume accessory, display piece or prop component? Upload your STL or OBJ to Y3DM, check its dimensions and choose from the materials and colors available in the quote. If you need a model created or changed, start with a design enquiry.
Before you quote your prop
- Check the scale. The quote preview uses millimeters. Confirm the overall dimensions and any openings that must fit a person or another part.
- Review the pieces. A larger prop may need several separately printed components. Send the individual models or ask Y3DM to review splitting and joining requirements.
- Describe the intended finish. Explain your assembly, sanding, paint or display plans so the project scope can be reviewed.
Material color and a finished appearance
The quote's color choices refer to the printing material. A printed color does not define a painted finish or the full scope of a completed costume piece. Describe the surface appearance, visibility of joins and assembly needs you have in mind, and confirm any additional work with Y3DM before ordering.
Choose a material with your intended use in mind. Tell us about heat exposure, handling, flexibility and weight or fit requirements rather than relying on a material label alone. Only the materials currently enabled in the quote can be selected for an instant order.
Need help creating or changing the model?
Send reference images, a sketch, target dimensions and the features you want to change through the design request. For parts that must fit together, include measurements and photos of the connection. Design scope and file deliverables are reviewed individually.
Prop printing questions
Can I send several pieces for one project?
Yes. Quote each STL or OBJ and add the quoted pieces to the basket. For a project requiring design review or coordinated production, describe the full assembly and include a parts list in your enquiry.
Does the instant quote include painting or assembly?
Confirm the scope with Y3DM before ordering if you need painting, assembly or other finishing. Those services should not be assumed from a material color selection or the instant printing quote.
Can I order a large prop?
Share the full dimensions and component files first. Y3DM can review whether the project needs changes or separate pieces before an order is agreed. Do not scale down a file just to make it fit unless that is the size you want.
Can I use a model I purchased?
Check that your model's license permits the printing and use you intend. Send a file you are authorized to use and describe your project.
